Is that my name on the poster?

Craig, who played the part of Mingo, was so thrilled to be part of this prestigious production with a top-notch cast drawn from the cream of British performing talent. Charlie Stemp, who played the lead Bobby, was Bert in the West End’s production of Mary Poppins and also appeared opposite Bette Midler in Hello Dolly on Broadway.

It was a stunning success with five star reviews from most national papers:

‘Spine-tingling musical is a giddy thrill’ – The Guardian

‘A divine’ revival that will ‘knock you for six’ – What’s on Stage

‘Be dazzled by this infectious Gershwin musical’ – The Times

‘Ingenious, sparkling choreography. It’s a show that sends you out on a high from the joy of music and dance’ – Financial Times

‘A stunning revival, blessed with fabulous songs’ – Daily Mail

The direction and choreography was by the multi-award winning Broadway royalty theatre director, Susan Stroman. The production celebrates its 30th anniversary at the same time as Chichester Festival Theatre was celebrating its 60th anniversary.

There are some great photos of the production here.

The production was a mix of hilarious, riotous entertainment, stunning dance routines and glorious Gershwin songs and melodies.

We are all now hoping for a transfer to the West End so that more people can come and enjoy this spectacular show and to see Craig of course. How lucky are we to have him at Starquest.
