This one year (full-time or distanced learning) course is for:

  • current dance teachers who wish to qualify and hold a fully registered dance teaching qualification.
  • college Graduates who wish to pursue a career in teaching and gain employment.
  • professional performers or ex-professional performers requiring a back-up for future work or career change options.
Teacher Training Course Starquest Performing Arts

Qualification: Worth 120 credits on the National Curriculum Framework. This can be used as a stand-alone qualification or developed into higher qualifications.

Duration: 1 year full-time study which entails:
A series of practical studio study sessions and theoretical home study sessions with distanced learning involved and mentored via online tutorials throughout.

Duration: 2 year part-time study which entails:
Minimal practical studio study sessions and a more intense theoretical home study with distanced learning involved and mentored via online tutorials throughout.

The level 4 Diploma in Dance Teaching develops learners to:

  • gain a knowledge and understanding of safe dance practice, health & safety and learning styles.
  • demonstrate skills, knowledge and understanding of their chosen dance genre and syllabus delivery.
  • demonstrate teaching practice -– Practical & Theoretical.

The qualification provides a basis for learners to progress into dance teaching and be qualified, either through running their own dance classes or working for an established school as a qualified and recognised practitioner.

There are 3 sections to complete on the course before your entry to take the final examination can be offered by your tutor or representative.

Unit 1: Teaching logs and evidence of lesson planning.

Unit 2: Trainee teachers will be asked to demonstrate and discuss all aspects of a required syllabus, demonstrating the technical aspects and progressional developments throughout all levels.

Unit 3: Trainee teachers will also be required to teach an observed class, of which on completion a discussion will take place explaining the trainee teacher’s method of teaching skills, their teaching logs, lesson plans and about continuing professional development.

What does the examination entail:

The qualification is a final practical examination conducted by an appointed Examiner.

Who is eligible to take this exam:

  1. Dancers who want to teach full-time age 18 years plus.
  2. Professionals that want a back up for continual employment between engagements, aged 18 years plus with a qualification to do so.
  3. Ex-Professional performers that want to continue using their skills by training the next generation of performers with a qualification to do so. Age 18 years plus.

Fees:

There are three options available:

Option 1
Full one year course payment:
Including final exam payment £2335.00
Excluding final exam payment £1850.00

Option 2
1st instalment payment:
Including final exam payment £1167.50
Excluding final exam payment £925.00

2nd instalment payment:
Including final exam payment £1167.50
Excluding final exam payment £925.00

Option 3
10 monthly instalments (with final exam payment) are available and paid on the 1st day of each month with 20% interest added £280.20

10 monthly instalments (without final exam payment) are available and paid on the 1st day of each month with 20% interest added £222.00

Please note that distanced learning trainees fees are worked out in exactly the same way, although the duration of the course may slightly alter due to accessibility of trainees availability if a professional performer.
